Frequently Asked Questions

Why do we need a shelter? Can't we go in the basement?

While a basement is one of the safer places to shelter in place during a tornado warning, most houses (and buildings) are not built to withstand extreme wind speeds associated with tornadoes. A storm shelter or safe room designed specifically to withstand tornadoes is the safest place you could be. Here at Drop Zone Shelters, we offer a variety of styles and sizes to suit your needs - contact us today to secure safety in your own home or backyard!

Will your safe rooms keep me safe in the event of a fire?

Unfortunately, our safe rooms are not rated for fires.

What is the difference between an above-ground shelter and a below-ground shelter?

Above-ground and below-ground storm shelters have distinct advantages and disadvantages. Above-ground shelters are pricier, but they can often look more visually appealing. They provide the same level of safety as below-ground options, while being less intrusive, requiring minimal excavation and site preparation. In contrast, below-ground shelters are often more budget-friendly, making them the preferred choice for young families or individuals on a home financing journey. Whatever the case, Drop Zone Shelters offers a wide variety of styles and sizes to suit every individual's needs. Contact us today to get a quote!

Is one type of shelter safer than another?

All of our shelters are equally safe, despite their differences in style and size. To figure out which style is right for you, contact us to get a quote!
